In North Little Rock, Arkansas, a tragic encounter on a Wednesday afternoon led to the untimely death of Kristopher Dacus, a 33-year-old White male. The events unfolded on February 26, 2020, at Edgewood Cemetery where Dacus was an employee. His day took a fatal turn when he approached a group of four juveniles walking through the cemetery grounds and instructed them to leave the property.
While three of the youths complied and began to exit, one lingered behind.
This individual was later identified as 15-year-old Kelton Ahmad McIntire. Dacus approached McIntire, and a struggle ensued between the two. The confrontation escalated dramatically when McIntire produced a handgun and shot Dacus multiple times. After the shooting, the suspect fled the scene.
Law enforcement responded to a call about the shooting at approximately 2:25 p.m. and found Dacus suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was transported to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. Acting on a description of a juvenile Black male seen running from the cemetery, police quickly began a search of the area. Their search led them to a nearby apartment, less than a block from the cemetery, where they apprehended Kelton Ahmad McIntire a short time later.
McIntire was arrested and charged as an adult with first-degree murder for his role in the death of Kristopher Dacus. He was taken to the Pulaski County jail and held without bond. In a subsequent court appearance, McIntire pleaded not guilty to the charge, and his bond was set at $1 million.
