In the late summer of 2022, a life was tragically cut short in North Little Rock, Arkansas. On August 5th, emergency services responded to a call from the West Scenic Apartments regarding what was initially reported as an accidental shooting. Upon their arrival at the apartment complex located at 605 West Scenic Drive, they discovered a young man suffering from at least one gunshot wound. The victim was identified as Jaylen Talley, a 21-year-old Black male.
He was quickly transported to a local hospital for medical attention, but unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.
The North Little Rock Police Department immediately launched an investigation into the shooting. As detectives began to piece together the events of that day, their focus turned towards a single individual. Their investigation led them to identify 18-year-old Jaydin Alford of North Little Rock as the primary suspect in Jaylen Talley's death. The nature of the evidence and the circumstances surrounding the shooting prompted law enforcement to pursue murder charges against Alford.
Following the identification of Alford as the suspect, the North Little Rock Police Department took swift action. Jaydin Alford was arrested and subsequently charged with first-degree murder in connection with the death of Jaylen Talley. After his arrest, Alford was transported to the Pulaski County Regional Detention Facility, where he was held without bond. His first court appearance was scheduled to take place on August 9, 2022. As the legal process began, the police department encouraged anyone with additional information about the incident to come forward, assuring them that they could remain anonymous.
