On December 22, 2016, 19-year-old Tyrone Barnett was fatally shot in front of an apartment building at the Eastgate Terrace Apartment complex in North Little Rock, Arkansas. Officers discovered Barnett unresponsive and bleeding on the ground. He was transported to Arkansas Children's Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
A 17-year-old suspect, identified as Anthony Fredrick 'Lil June' Williams of Little Rock, was arrested and charged with first-degree murder in connection with Barnett's death. Williams was taken into custody on January 5, 2017, and transported to the Pulaski County Regional Intake Facility with no bond.
Barnett's family expressed forgiveness toward the individual responsible for his death, highlighting the profound impact of violence on their community.
The incident was North Little Rock's 12th homicide of 2016.
