In the early hours of June 28, 2021, the sound of gunfire shattered the quiet of a North Little Rock neighborhood. Officers were dispatched to the area of 16th and Chandler Street at approximately 1:29 a.m. in response to a shots fired call. Upon their arrival, they discovered a young man suffering from a gunshot wound. The male victim was pronounced deceased at the scene.
He was later identified as 18-year-old Albert Reddick of Benton.
Detectives from the North Little Rock Police Department immediately began a homicide investigation, processing the scene for evidence and conducting interviews. The investigation was described as active and ongoing in the days and weeks that followed. Authorities encouraged anyone with information to come forward, offering anonymity to those who wished it. One neighbor reported hearing loud gunfire and then discovering the tragic aftermath across the street.
On August 12, 2021, a significant development was made in the case when North Little Rock Detectives took an 18-year-old suspect into custody. Anthony Brown of North Little Rock was arrested on a warrant for one count of Capital Murder for his involvement in Reddick's death. At the time of Brown's arrest, police stated that the investigation remained ongoing and that they anticipated more arrests would be made in connection with the homicide.
