Lula White, a 50-year-old Native American woman, lived in the Navajo community of Red Lake, New Mexico, and was killed by gunfire near Fort Defiance, Arizona, on January 2, 2009. Online memorial records note that she was “lost to gun violence” on that date and list Fort Defiance as the location of her death, placing the killing within the Navajo Nation area along the Arizona–New Mexico border.
