In the quiet desert landscape of Tonopah, Arizona, a grim discovery was made on the morning of August 18, 2015. The body of 17-year-old Sophia Gibbs, a female described as Caucasian, was found alongside her 18-year-old boyfriend, Jesse Romero. Both had been fatally shot in what authorities deemed a double homicide. Their bodies were located in the area of Salome Highway, just west of 411th Avenue, at approximately 5:45 a.m.
