In October 2010, a domestic violence call to a mobile home in south Phoenix set in motion a chain of events that would end in the tragic death of 28-year-old Danny Rodriguez. His mother, Elvira Fernandez, had called the police, stating her son was behaving violently. When Phoenix Police Officers Richard Chrisman and Sergio Virgillo arrived at the residence, the situation quickly escalated.
