In the early evening of March 25, 2026, the life of 23-year-old Rickasia Shontee Liles of Wadesboro was tragically cut short in Albemarle, North Carolina. Around 7 p.m., officers from the Albemarle Police Department were dispatched to the vicinity of Heath Street and Elizabeth Avenue following reports of a shooting. Upon their arrival, they discovered Ms. Liles inside a vehicle, suffering from a gunshot wound.
Immediate medical aid was rendered at the scene before she was airlifted to a medical facility for advanced treatment. Despite the efforts of medical personnel, Rickasia Shontee Liles succumbed to her injuries and passed away. Born on August 16, 2002, in Union County, NC, she was a graduate of Anson High School and had attended Winston-Salem State University. She was known for her great love of basketball and music.
The Albemarle Police Department, with the assistance of the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation, launched a homicide investigation. Preliminary findings from the investigation suggested that the shooting was not a random act of violence and that the individuals involved were acquainted with each other.
