On December 24, 2024, at approximately 5:39 p.m., deputies from the Robeson County Sheriff's Office responded to a report of a shooting in the 100 block of Nettie Drive in Shannon, North Carolina. Upon arrival, they discovered Curtis Lee Locklear, 55, suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to a nearby medical center but later succumbed to his injuries.
Investigators arrested 32-year-old Timothy Griffin of Fayetteville in connection with the homicide shortly after arriving at the crime scene. Initially, Griffin was charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury and discharging a firearm inside of an enclosure to incite. However, following Locklear's death, the charges were upgraded to second-degree murder. Griffin is currently held without bond at the Robeson County Detention Center.
