On November 24, 2024, a violent incident claimed the life of Damon M. Lawson, a 26-year-old Black male from East St. Louis, Illinois. The fatal encounter took place late on a Sunday evening in the Columbus Square neighborhood of St. Louis, Missouri. Shortly before 10:00 p.m., the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department received reports of gunfire erupting near the intersection of Eighth and Carr Streets.
