In the summer of 2016, the life of 17-year-old Antoine Quinn Jr. was tragically cut short in St. Louis, Missouri. On July 21st, the young Black man was the victim of a fatal shooting, a violent end to a life that had just begun. The circumstances of his death were particularly grim, revealing a story of deception and revenge.
On that July day, Quinn was picked up by Eric Porter, also 17, and other individuals under the friendly guise of going for a ride and smoking marijuana.
However, the invitation masked a deadly intent. Authorities later revealed that the actual motive for the outing was to seek revenge for a previous shooting.
While seated in the front seat of what was later determined to be a stolen car, Quinn was shot repeatedly. He sustained gunshot wounds to his head, back, chest, legs, and abdomen, a brutal attack that left no chance for survival. The vehicle used in the commission of the crime had been reported stolen approximately three weeks prior to the murder.
The investigation into Antoine Quinn's death led to the arrest of Eric Porter of Berkeley. In January 2017, Porter was charged with first-degree murder and other crimes related to the shooting. He was subsequently jailed on a $500,000 cash-only bond, facing the consequences of the violent act that ended a teenager's life and left a community in mourning.
