On May 25, 2023, at approximately 11:00 a.m., 22-year-old Erik Alford-Smith was fatally shot in the head in the 4800 block of Margaretta Avenue, located in St. Louis' Penrose neighborhood. Responding officers discovered Alford-Smith's body in an alley in the 4800 block of Farlin Avenue, where he was pronounced dead at the scene.
