On the evening of January 12, 2021, a violent incident unfolded in the Hyde Park neighborhood of St. Louis, Missouri, claiming the life of 27-year-old African American male Marcus Davis. Officers from the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department were dispatched to the 3900 block of North Florissant Avenue around 6:10 p.m. following reports of a shooting.
Upon their arrival at the apartment complex, first responders discovered a chaotic scene with two individuals suffering from gunshot wounds.
Davis was found unresponsive at the location and was pronounced dead at the scene by authorities. Alongside him, a 19-year-old male had also sustained injuries during the gunfire. The surviving victim was transported to a local hospital for urgent medical treatment, where his vital signs were later reported to be stable. The double shooting marked a violent start to the night in the city, which saw two other separate shooting incidents occur within hours of the North Florissant Avenue homicide.
As of the latest available reports following the incident, homicide detectives had not announced any arrests in connection with Davis's death. Investigators at the time did not release a description of potential suspects or a motive for the attack.
