William Nathaniel Robinson, a 34-year-old Caucasian male, was found deceased in Edgecomb, Maine, on December 3, 2024. His body was discovered by a hunter near the Schmid Land Preserve on Old County Road. An investigation was launched by the Maine State Police, and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Augusta determined that Robinson's cause of death was a gunshot wound, ruling the manner of death a homicide.
Robinson, who was originally from Austinville, Virginia, had been recently staying at a residence in Edgecomb.
The investigation into Robinson's death led authorities to a property at 57 Conant Road in Turner, Maine. Evidence discovered at this location during the execution of a search warrant on December 12, 2024, linked 26-year-old Luke Krott of Edgecomb to the murder. It was reported that the Turner property was the site of an illicit cannabis operation. Further evidence in the case emerged when two ice fishermen discovered Robinson's wallet in a frozen pond near Old County Road on January 9, 2025.
Following the issuance of an arrest warrant, authorities began searching for Luke Krott, who had fled the state of Maine. Krott, who had been staying with his parents in Edgecomb, was located and apprehended on a sailboat at a marina in San Diego, California, on January 6, 2025. His arrest was the result of a collaborative effort between the San Diego Police Department's Fugitive Task Force, the FBI, and the U.S. Marshals Service. Krott is being held at the San Diego Central Jail on a fugitive from justice charge and is awaiting extradition to Maine to face a charge of murder in connection with the death of William Nathaniel Robinson.
