On December 7, 1998, in Caribou, Maine, a tragic incident occurred involving the Cousins family. Leigh Anthony Cousins, 34, fatally shot his wife, Tina Marie Saunders Cousins, 30, and their two children, Cortina, 4, and Cody, 2, before taking his own life in what was determined to be a murder-suicide.

Cody Cousins was born on June 17, 1996, in Caribou. He and his sister, Cortina, born December 20, 1993, were both laid to rest in Holy Rosary Cemetery in Caribou.
