In the early morning hours of Saturday, December 14, 2024, a dispute in Wichita's Riverside neighborhood escalated into a fatal shooting, claiming the life of 19-year-old Hispanic male David Hernandez-Cervantez. The incident unfolded in Sim Park, near Murdock and Amidon, where Wichita police were dispatched around 12:20 a.m. following reports of gunfire. Upon their arrival, officers discovered two men suffering from gunshot wounds.
