Ernestine Griner Hines, a 59-year-old African American woman from Green Cove Springs, Florida, tragically lost her life on August 23, 2015. The incident occurred in the early hours of the morning, around 4:10 a.m., when she was shot while sitting in the front passenger seat of a van. The shooter, Victor Lamar Cruger Jr., was seated behind her in the vehicle. The shooting took place on Washington Lane, and Ernestine was immediately taken to a local hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries.
