In the late afternoon of December 5, 2024, a 25-year-old Black man named Mark Odom was fatally shot in Southeast Washington, D.C. The incident occurred around 5:16 p.m. in the 2000 block of Wade Road, a place familiar to Odom, who, despite having no fixed address, considered the area near the Parkchester Apartments his home. He was a proud graduate of Prince George's County public schools and maintained a deep connection to the Southeast community.
