In the late afternoon of a summer day in Washington, D.C., the sound of gunshots shattered the peace in the Brightwood Park neighborhood. On Monday, July 26, 2021, at approximately 3:58 p.m., police responded to reports of gunfire in the 600 block of Jefferson Street, Northwest. Upon their arrival, they discovered a man suffering from gunshot wounds. The victim was identified as 35-year-old John Edmonds of Northwest, D.C.
