In the early morning hours of November 29, 2024, a tragic series of events unfolded in a Phoenix, Arizona home, culminating in the death of 27-year-old Luis Eduardo Beltran Arteaga. A Hispanic/Latino male, Arteaga was fatally shot inside a residence near 51st Avenue and Southern Avenue. The incident, which police began investigating around 1:00 a.m., was not a random act of violence but rather the grim conclusion to a dispute that had started earlier in the evening.
The suspect,
identified as 23-year-old Jose Luis Fajardo, had reportedly been involved in an altercation with an adult woman at a different location, near 47th Avenue and Van Buren Street. During that initial confrontation, Fajardo allegedly discharged a firearm multiple times, though the woman was not injured. Following this incident, the woman returned to the residence on 51st Avenue.
Later that morning, Fajardo arrived at this same home and forced his way inside through an exterior door. Once inside, he located Beltran Arteaga and shot him. After the shooting, Fajardo fled the scene on foot. Family members who were present transported Arteaga to a local hospital, but he ultimately succumbed to his injuries.
Phoenix police officers, responding to the report of a shooting, were able to locate and apprehend Fajardo in the vicinity of the home shortly after the incident. He was taken into custody and is facing multiple felony charges, including murder.
