In the fading light of a November evening, the Inglenook community in Birmingham, Alabama, was shattered by the sound of gunfire. On November 21, 2024, the life of 19-year-old Camry Enrique Lee of Pinson was tragically cut short. Lee, a Black male, was discovered lifeless in the driveway of an abandoned house in the 4400 block of 41st Place North, a victim of fatal gunshot wounds.
The grim discovery was made by Birmingham police officers who were responding to a 911 call from concerned residents who had heard the gunshots around 6:30 p.m.
The scene that unfolded was one of a complex and brutal crime. Inside the same vacant home near where Lee's body was found, authorities located a second victim, 20-year-old Michael Allen Carroll of Center Point, who had also been shot to death. The presence of a stolen car at the location added another layer of mystery to the double homicide. In the immediate aftermath, investigators took two men into custody for questioning. One was found uninjured inside the house, and another was located walking in the neighborhood shortly after the incident. However, both were later released after being interviewed by police. For months, the case remained under investigation with no arrests made, leaving a community searching for answers.
Four months after the homicides, a significant breakthrough was made in the investigation. In March 2025, authorities arrested three suspects in the Tarrant area in connection to the deaths of Camry Enrique Lee and Michael Allen Carroll. Cameron Frost, Jaylen Frost, and Taquan Patterson were taken into custody and are now facing capital murder charges. The three are being held without bond as the legal process moves forward.
