On December 24, 2024, at approximately 11:00 PM, Hoover Police responded to a 911 call reporting a shooting at an apartment complex located in the 2200 block of Rime Village Drive in Hoover, Alabama. Upon arrival, officers discovered 35-year-old Brandon Montez McIlwain of Birmingham suffering from a gunshot wound. Despite life-saving efforts by emergency responders, McIlwain was pronounced dead at UAB Hospital.
