On February 14, 2023, at approximately 5:14 a.m., 36-year-old Ali Ismail was fatally shot outside his home in the 1400 block of Prentice Street in Arlington, Texas. Ismail, a father of six with a seventh child on the way, had just returned from his overnight shift at a trucking company when he encountered two individuals attempting to burglarize vehicles in his neighborhood. As he pulled into his driveway, one of the suspects, who was hiding nearby, opened fire without any verbal exchange, striking Ismail multiple times. He was found unresponsive in his SUV and pronounced dead at the scene.
The Arlington Police Department launched an intensive investigation, gathering surveillance footage that showed the two suspects pulling on car door handles in the area prior to the shooting. Despite these efforts, the suspects fled the scene on foot, heading east along Prentice Street, and have yet to be identified or apprehended.
