Summary based on 9 sources
On November 12, 2023, at approximately 1:28 p.m., Arlington Police Department officers responded to a reported shooting at an apartment complex in the 1000 block of West Arkansas Lane. Upon arrival, they found 26-year-old Jared Jackson unresponsive with an apparent gunshot wound in front of one of the apartments; he was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Following a thorough investigation, Arlington homicide detectives identified three suspects: 23-year-old Brenton Smith, 17-year-old Jaka Livingston, and 19-year-old Ahmed Osman. Detectives believe that Smith had a dispute with Jackson over drugs and/or money and brought Livingston and Osman to Jackson's apartment, where they shot him.

Members of the U.S. Marshals North Texas Fugitive Task Force located and apprehended all three suspects. They were booked into the Arlington City Jail on capital murder charges and have since been transferred to the Tarrant County Jail, where they are currently being held.

The arrests have provided some closure to the Arlington community, which was unsettled by the violent incident. Authorities continue to urge anyone with additional information about the case to contact Detective Coffer at (817) 459-5735 or Crime Stoppers of Tarrant County at (817) 469-8477, where tipsters can remain anonymous.
