On a Tuesday, March 4, 2025, a group of friends, including 38-year-old Jeremy Leif from Minnesota, embarked on a heli-skiing adventure in the Chugach Mountains near Girdwood, Alaska. The group was near the west fork of the 20-mile river when a massive avalanche occurred. The avalanche was a significant event, with a path that stretched for a vertical drop of 2,800 feet.
