On March 4, 2025, 39-year-old Charles Eppard of Bigfork, Montana, was among three heli-skiers caught in a devastating avalanche in the Chugach Mountains near Girdwood, Alaska. The group, guided by Chugach Powder Guides, had been dropped by helicopter into a remote area along the West Fork of the Twentymile River, approximately eight miles northeast of the Girdwood Airport.
