On the night of April 16, 2023, at approximately 10:45 p.m., Dallas police responded to a shooting incident in the 11000 block of Amanda Lane, located in the Highland Meadows area of northeast Dallas. Upon arrival, officers discovered 31-year-old Darwin Givans inside his vehicle, suffering from gunshot wounds. Despite the prompt response from Dallas Fire-Rescue, Givans was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigations revealed that two male suspects approached Givans' vehicle and fired multiple shots while he was seated inside. After the shooting, the assailants fled the scene in a newer model black sedan with stock rims, dark tinted windows, and a Texas license plate. A third individual is believed to have acted as the getaway driver. The suspects were described as Black males.
As of now, no arrests have been made in connection with the murder of Darwin Givans. The Dallas Police Department continues to seek information from the public to aid in identifying and apprehending the individuals responsible. In the wake of this tragic event, Givans' family arranged funeral services to honor his memory. A visitation was held on April 28, 2023, at Jones Stuart Mortuary in Texarkana, Arkansas, followed by a funeral service on April 29, 2023, at Greater Heights Ministries, also in Texarkana. Elder Derrick Huggins served as the eulogist for the service.
The community remains hopeful that those responsible for this senseless act of violence will be brought to justice. Authorities urge anyone with information to come forward to assist in the ongoing investigation.
