On a Thursday afternoon, January 22, 2026, the life of 18-year-old Wornan Padilla Garcia was tragically cut short in a shooting at a park in Dallas, Texas. A senior and a cherished member of the soccer team at Woodrow Wilson High School, Garcia was known for his positive attitude and was loved by his teammates and coaches. He had moved to Dallas from San José de las Flores, Oaxaca, Mexico, and had plans to attend college.
The incident occurred around 3:45 p.m.
at Randall Park Fields, also identified as Willis C. Winters Park, located in the 300 block of South Glasgow Drive, across the street from the high school. Dallas Police and Fire-Rescue responded to the scene, and Garcia was transported to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. The Dallas Independent School District confirmed that three students from the school were involved in the incident.
In the wake of the shooting, a 16-year-old suspect was taken into custody at the scene and has been charged with murder. Due to the suspect's age, their name has not been publicly released.
