On January 20, 2019, Jabril Haymon, a 22-year-old Black male from Dallas, TX, was tragically shot to death in his apartment at the Brandon Mill Apartments in Duncanville. The incident occurred early Sunday morning, and when officers arrived at the scene, they found Haymon shot in his apartment. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Following the incident, Dallas Police Homicide detectives launched an investigation and determined that 21-year-old Keyon Dvonta Anderson, also a Black male,
was responsible for Haymon's murder. On January 22, 2019, Anderson turned himself in at the Dallas Police Southwest Substation and admitted to the murder during an interview. He was subsequently charged with murder and transported to the Dallas County Lew Sterrett Jail.
The case highlights the tragic loss of a young life and the swift actions taken by law enforcement to bring the perpetrator to justice. The investigation and subsequent arrest underscore the importance of community and police collaboration in addressing violent crimes.
