On July 1, 2023, Dallas Police responded to a call reporting the discovery of skeletal remains in a wooded area near 7500 S. Lancaster Road. The Medical Examiner's office identified the remains on September 20 as those of 41-year-old Michael Mupfukudzwa, who had been reported missing on September 12, 2022. The preliminary investigation determined that Mupfukudzwa had been shot, leading authorities to classify the case as a homicide.
