On July 1, 2023, Dallas Police responded to a call reporting the discovery of skeletal remains in a wooded area near 7500 S. Lancaster Road. The Medical Examiner's office identified the remains on September 20 as those of 41-year-old Michael Mupfukudzwa, who had been reported missing on September 12, 2022. The preliminary investigation determined that Mupfukudzwa had been shot, leading authorities to classify the case as a homicide.
Prior to his disappearance, Mupfukudzwa had a known criminal record. He was arrested on September 10, 2021, in Dallas County for allegedly assaulting a peace officer or judge. At the time of this arrest, he was 39 years old.
As of now, there have been no reports of arrests or identification of suspects in connection with Mupfukudzwa's death.
