On the night of January 19, 2024, at approximately 11:40 p.m., 22-year-old Roberto Aguilar was found deceased in the driveway of his residence in the 100 block of Rebecca Drive in Willis, Texas. Responding to a 911 call reporting an assault with a firearm, deputies from the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office and officers from the Willis Police Department discovered Aguilar with multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
In the days following the incident, detectives from the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office Homicide and Violent Crimes Division, along with Crime Scene Investigators, conducted a thorough investigation. On January 22, 2024, they identified 21-year-old Abraham Caleb Ramirez of Conroe, Texas, as the primary suspect in Aguilar's murder. A coordinated operation involving the Sheriff's Office SWAT team, the Montgomery County Narcotics Enforcement Team, the Willis Police Department, the Texas Department of Public Safety, and Crime Scene Investigators led to Ramirez's arrest at his residence. He was subsequently charged with the murder of Roberto Aguilar and confined in the Montgomery County Jail.
Roberto "Betito" Aguilar was born on September 29, 2001, in Galveston, Texas, and was raised in Willis. He was known for his love of soccer and his cheerful demeanor, often seen practicing his skills around the neighborhood. His untimely death has left his family and the local community in mourning.
