On April 23, 2024, at approximately 8:00 p.m., Dallas Police responded to a shooting incident in the 300 block of South Boulevard. Upon arrival, officers discovered two female victims inside an apartment: 17-year-old Drenesia Willis and her mother, 40-year-old LaNeshaia Pinkard. Both had sustained gunshot wounds and were transported to a local hospital, where they succumbed to their injuries.
The investigation led to the arrest of 65-year-old Doris Walker, who was charged with capital murder in connection with the deaths of Willis and Pinkard. According to an arrest warrant affidavit, the incident was preceded by a physical altercation involving Willis and another woman residing at the apartment complex. Walker reported that the other woman was brought into her apartment following the altercation. Subsequently, Willis allegedly called her mother, Pinkard, to the scene, and together they reportedly forced entry into Walker's apartment, assaulting the woman involved in the earlier fight and threatening Walker. In response, Walker claimed she shot Willis as she attempted to leave and then shot Pinkard inside the apartment, believing Pinkard might have a gun, though she admitted never seeing one.
Authorities confirmed that Walker and the victims were acquainted prior to the incident. Walker is currently held in the Dallas County Jail on capital murder charges. The case remains under active investigation as detectives work to uncover all pertinent details surrounding the tragic event.
