On the night of July 31, 2024, at approximately 11:45 p.m., Killeen police officers responded to a shooting incident in the 900 block of Adams Avenue. Upon arrival, they discovered 51-year-old Jesse Miles suffering from a gunshot wound. Officers immediately administered life-saving measures until paramedics arrived. Miles was then transported to the Carl R. Darnall Army Community Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
Justice of the Peace Gregory Johnson pronounced him deceased at 12:29 a.m. on August 1, 2024.
During the initial investigation, two additional gunshot victims arrived at a local emergency medical facility by private vehicle. The first was identified as 35-year-old Anthony McKoy, who was subsequently transported to the Carl R. Darnall Army Community Hospital. Despite medical efforts, McKoy was pronounced dead by Justice of the Peace Gregory Johnson at 1:15 a.m. on August 1. The second victim, a 30-year-old woman, was treated for non-life-threatening injuries at Advent Health Central Texas.
As of the latest available information, the Killeen Police Department has not announced any arrests or identified any suspects related to this case.
