Staff Sgt. Steven Daniel Lewis, a 33-year-old male soldier of African American ethnicity, was found unresponsive at his off-post residence in Killeen, Texas, on March 22, 2016. He was a member of the 1st Battalion, 12th Cavalry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division at Fort Hood. His death was unexpected and prompted an investigation by Fort Hood authorities.
