Death by Force

On March 17, 2023, the Sutter County Sheriff's Office responded to reports of two bodies near a vehicle in the area of Kempton and Brewer roads in Rio Oso, California. Upon arrival, deputies discovered 40-year-old Elk Grove resident Vicky Keovilayphone inside a blue Ford Explorer and 40-year-old Yuba County resident Derrick James Engelman approximately 50 yards away from the vehicle. Both individuals had sustained multiple gunshot wounds and were pronounced dead at the scene.
