According to reports, Watson was seated inside a black Toyota Tacoma when an individual approached, leading to a verbal altercation between the two men. The confrontation escalated, resulting in the suspect shooting Watson multiple times before fleeing eastbound on 71st Street. Emergency responders pronounced Watson dead at the scene.
The Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner's office later identified the victim as Christopher Watson. The official cause of death was determined to be multiple gunshot wounds, and the manner of death was classified as a homicide.
