On May 11, 2024, 32-year-old William Lara was fatally shot in the Central-Alameda area of Los Angeles. The incident occurred around 7:30 p.m. near the intersection of Alameda Street and Washington Boulevard. Lara was transported to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 7:57 p.m.
The shooting also claimed the life of 24-year-old Amanda Gallegos, who was homeless; she died at the scene. Another man in his 30s was critically wounded and hospitalized.
According to the Los Angeles Police Department, four male suspects opened fire on the victims, striking all three.
As of December 26, 2024, no arrests have been reported in connection with this case. The Los Angeles Police Department continues to investigate the incident and urges anyone with information to call 877-LAPD-247.
