On August 16, 2024, at approximately 12:45 p.m., 52-year-old Corey Dushawn Waters of Oakland was fatally shot in the stairwell of an apartment complex located in the 3200 block of Adeline Street in South Berkeley. First responders attempted life-saving measures, but Waters was pronounced dead at the scene.
