Al Mills, along with his wife Jeannie Mills and their daughter Daphene, were tragically murdered on February 26, 1980, in their Berkeley, California home. The Mills family had previously defected from the Peoples Temple, a cult led by Jim Jones, and had become vocal critics of the organization. This background led to initial speculation that their murders were a form of retribution by surviving members of the cult.
