Jimmie Hugh Rutledge, a 50-year-old sergeant with the Berkeley Police Department, tragically lost his life on June 16, 1973, in Berkeley, California. Rutledge, a veteran of both World War II and the Korean War, had served with the Berkeley Police Department for 23 years. On the night of his death, Rutledge was responding to reports of a prowler in the 2200 block of Russell Street.
