Death by Force

On the evening of September 4, 2024, at approximately 8:32 p.m., 20-year-old Joseph Miguel Zarate was fatally shot in San Francisco's Mission District. The incident occurred in the 2000 block of Mission Street, near the 16th Street BART plaza. Officers from the San Francisco Police Department's Mission Station responded to the scene and found Zarate suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to a hospital, where, despite medical efforts, he succumbed to his injuries.
