On February 20, 2023, 22-year-old Tyeasha Kataria Starks was fatally shot in Jackson, Tennessee, during a child custody exchange involving her 1-year-old son, Tanceton Currie. Starks, a biology major at Austin Peay State University and a resident of Clarksville, frequently traveled to Jackson to coordinate custody with her son's father, Bryce Currie.
