On a tragic Thursday morning in Jackson, Tennessee, the life of 60-year-old Betsy Baker Raines was cut short in a senseless act of workplace violence. On April 6, 2017, Raines, a dedicated administrative assistant at the Casey, Simmons and Bryant law firm, was fatally shot. The incident unfolded when a former employee, Shurnue Bratton, entered the law office. Bratton had been terminated from her position as a legal secretary at the firm in late March of the same year.
