On a late afternoon in Memphis, Tennessee, the sounds of a basketball game were tragically silenced by gunfire. Sixteen-year-old Mirickei McCrary, a young Black female, was enjoying a game of basketball on February 27, 2023, when a gray Chevrolet Impala drove down the street. In a sudden act of violence, occupants of the vehicle fired shots from the car's windows, striking Mirickei multiple times.
