In the early morning hours of October 4, 2021, the life of 26-year-old Akara Dannyell Williams was tragically cut short in her Memphis, Tennessee home. Responding to a report of a shooting at approximately 5:30 a.m. on Summerland Avenue, Memphis Police officers discovered a grim scene. Inside the residence, Akara and a man identified as 44-year-old Patrick Alan Garnier had both sustained multiple gunshot wounds.
Neither survived the attack and were pronounced dead at the scene.
Initial investigations into the double homicide suggested that the incident was the result of a home invasion. It is believed that two male suspects forcibly entered the house with the intention of robbing the occupants. During the course of the robbery, shots were fired, leading to the deaths of Williams and Garnier.
