On February 7, 2021, at approximately 12:59 a.m., Memphis Police officers from the Raines Station precinct responded to a shooting call at the intersection of Horn Lake and Dixie Road in south Memphis. Upon arrival, they discovered 49-year-old Sonia Starks, an African American woman, inside a Ford Escape. She had sustained a fatal gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene.
