On August 16, 2024, 41-year-old James B. Cox III was fatally shot in Nashville's Edgehill neighborhood. The incident occurred around 12:30 a.m. on Deford Bailey Avenue, where Cox was found with multiple gunshot wounds. He was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center but succumbed to his injuries.
