On the morning of March 30, 2023, at approximately 9:34 a.m., York City Police responded to reports of a shooting in the 100 block of East Maple Street in York, Pennsylvania. Upon arrival, officers discovered 24-year-old Quintir Shy'lyn Simmons, who had sustained multiple gunshot wounds. Simmons was transported to WellSpan York Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 10:32 a.m.
The York County Coroner's Office ruled Simmons's death a homicide resulting from multiple gunshot wounds. A known female suspect remained at the scene and cooperated with law enforcement. She was taken into custody but was later released without charges. The exact nature of the relationship between Simmons and the suspect remains unclear, and authorities have not disclosed a potential motive for the shooting.
Simmons, affectionately known as "Dete," was born on November 13, 1998, to his mother, Quinntina Simmons. He was educated in the York City School System and worked for Astro’s Roofing Co. He was a fan of the New England Patriots and enjoyed listening to music. Above all, he cherished spending time with his two sons, Jacoby Jackson and Phoenix Simmons, as well as with family and friends.
As of now, no arrests have been made in connection with Simmons's death. The investigation remains active, and authorities have not provided further details regarding the circumstances surrounding the incident.
