In the winter of 2026, the life of 30-year-old Adam Goss was cut short in a fatal shooting in York, Pennsylvania. On the afternoon of January 11th, police responded to a report of a shooting and cardiac arrest at a residence on the 900 block of East King Street. Upon arrival, they discovered Goss with a gunshot wound to the head. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The subsequent investigation quickly pointed to a suspect: 19-year-old Jeremiah Beato.
It was determined that Goss and Beato were acquainted with each other, though the motive for the shooting remained unclear. Witnesses who were present in the home at the time of the incident reported hearing a "pop" that they identified as a gunshot. One witness recounted going downstairs to find Beato holding a gun wrapped in a cloth. The witness took the firearm from him and concealed it. Beato reportedly told the witness that Goss had been "trying to kill me." Investigators later recovered a 9mm Taurus G3 handgun and a 9mm shell casing from the room where the shooting occurred.
An arrest warrant for criminal homicide was issued for Jeremiah Beato, and police publicly noted that he may be suffering from a "mental deficiency," urging the public not to approach him. On January 13th, Beato was apprehended by the York City Police Department without incident and taken into custody. He is currently awaiting trial for the death of Adam Goss.
