On the evening of May 1, 2023, at approximately 9:45 p.m., Philadelphia Police officers responded to reports of gunfire in the 900 block of South 5th Street, located in the Queen Village neighborhood. Upon arrival, they discovered 35-year-old Lyron Ruffin lying in a parking lot, having sustained multiple gunshot wounds to the head and body. Officers immediately transported him to Jefferson Hospital, where he was listed in extremely critical condition.
